Notes: Actual drabble-length. Because I couldn't pick just one option for such a good prompt. (Beginning? Seriously? So much you can do with that.)

Summary: Dean's got to meet someone important - very important. Pre-series.

 

“Hi,” Mary murmured as John entered the room, Dean in his arms.

“Mommy!” Dean exclaimed, hugging her as John set him down on the hospital bed.

He looked down at the bundle of blankets. “Is that the baby?” he asked in a hushed voice.

Mary tipped the bundle up higher. “It is. His name’s Sammy. Be gentle, okay?”

Dean nodded and leaned forward, eyes wide as he stared at the sleeping infant. “Hi, Sammy,” he whispered, nudging the baby’s hand with a finger. “I’m your big brother.” Sammy shifted in sleep, and Dean grinned as tiny fingers curled around his.
