Oh my god, this is such a great story! And it's GEN! (Yeah, blame me, I got tired digging through the archives for a decent gen fics.) I love the dynamics, the interactions, the emotional depth between Kirk and the crews, especially McCoy. Kirk rubbing off on Spock already in nine months is surely a bad sign :D I don't know whether it's bad or good that Spock didn't initiate a mind meld (or the story gonna cut short?)

I can really imagine Kirk's reluctance to return if such thing happens. He's not exactly the most optimistic person when it comes to himself. He'd be thinking that it's his fault of some sort or feeling tired of having to deal with it over and over again without being able to do anything.

Tarsus isn't canon in the new Trek (at least not yet), but for angst fan like me, I'd just like for it to happen. I like to think it's one of the most important milestone that made Jim Kirk, the Jim Kirk we all know and love.

I like your take of the Kirk family dynamic, not making such a bad picture of either Winona or Frank. I like to see that she actually tried and loves her sons. And Frank actually asking for Winona's permission first before selling the car. I can see the fights with him Jim purposefully picked up.

The glimpses of politics are interesting too, and I can see it happening. There's always one Westervliet or two somewhere in the system. *snickers* I'm always up to Jim Kirk rising from the ashes and kick some ass on his way. XDD It's about time for him to learn to ask and get help.

Sorry for the long rant. Bravo!
